The very cute and intelligent beyond her year, neighbor S.

Me. I, apparently, live in the house to your right.

This past weekend we held a little neighborhood labor day pot-luck celebration in our driveway. Only a 20% of all invited neighbors attended, but I am chalking the lack of participation up to inclement weather (it rained as we started to eat). I must or else I will be unbearably saddened. I made tortilla roll-ups and strawberry pie. Everybody else made a casserole. I like pot-lucks in the same way I think socialism is a good idea.

Zach,

Can you explain the tortilla rollup to me? An inquiring Mexican wants to know!

Yes, I would. And gladly. The tortilla roll-up, I imagine, has little to do with the mexican cuisine and everything to do with mid-western cuisine, and all the ingredients, sans ranch, that we tend to favor. I mix cream cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, chopped dried beef, diced green chilis, garlic powder, and shredded cheddar together and spread it all out on tortillas, roll up the motha, and then cut it bite size. It's a party favorite. It's what made me who I am today.

Hm...ya had me up to the dried beef. Do you mean like jerky, or like that pressed meat that used to adorn sandwiches of my youth?

Pressed meat. Ah, pressed meat. Makes me think of my childhood too.
