I'm back at school after spring break. Wrote a few Scary poems. Watched some b-ball. Made some books for Octopus (we'll be announcing two new titles this week, so pay attention). Reading the inaugural issue of Ping Pong, the spring 2007 issue of Fence, The States by Craig Foltz, Flowers of Bad by David Cameron, The Pines Vol. 4. Having lunch with Lucille Clifton tomorrow. I'm not joking. Look at my face, I'm not joking.

GC,

These are, all 3, good suggestions. I sat directly across from her and was admittedly a tad nervous. There were 6 other poetry students at the table, but I had the seat of most responsiblity. This was accidental. Nice hotel restaurant. Rather empty. Some subtle (volume) Vivaldi. Water glasses and table cloths. She is very kind, and wise, and quotable, and sincere (but not newly sincere (old school sincerity)), and welcoming of all questions, and very pro-human. There was lots of eye contact. I told her I liked her children's books. She asked me if I liked Mary Oliver's work.

She signed a childrens book (one she wrote) that I brought with me and I asked her to sign it to my future unnamed children and she must have not seen my face, the one that I make to tell people that I am not joking because she signed it to me, Zach, with an 'h'.

Here is the face I make when I am not joking: http://www.katfm.com/images/80s_nerds/Rick_Moranis.jpg
