Slept all morning. A long hilly walk to Fisherman's Wharf in a rain storm. Even my undergarments and socks were wet (?). Fish and chips. Sea Lions. White hot chocolate. A boat trip to, and audio tour of Alcatraz. Very interesting. Spent a few seconds in the hole. Can't imagine what a few years would feel like (note to self: cancel plans of going on bloody killing spree). I want to learn more about the Birdman. Dinner at Mona Lisa's in Little Italy with A, M, and P. Then more drinking a Coppola's wine bar down the street. I'm becoming a lover of port. Then P and I broke off, went to Bigfoot tavern for more drinking. The room, today, still has some spin to it.

It's got to be unsettling for you when a comment plops out of the blue (or gray, as we moan in the Bay Area these past days) but I just found your blog via Internet stumbling -- "Wandering Around in the Dark," as my funny honey once misremembered the title to the Andre Dubus book ("Dancing After Midnight") -- and wanted to give voice to my admiration from across the Golden Gate Bridge. Major fan of Ben Marcus here, too; might have been how I found you so many clicks ago. Carry on. Enjoy this place. -- R. (find more of me below)

What about Johnny Damon's new look? And...team...
This is one of the few blogs (mabye along with t. robinson's) that can go into the diet...and the poetry lifestyle..in a way that's honest..and w/out seeming like bragging..
it's a difficult topic...some eat there w/out saying anything about it..to avoid seeming like bragging..
but then again, that might be dishonest..
and is it bragging if enough people seem to eat there to stay in buisness..
fish and chips is fun..
though i try and keep to the vegetables most of the time myself..
i guess one is walking in the footsteps of the variety of s.f. artists that have eating in those same places..
of course, most of them did so w/out the personal blogs..
but personal blogs are a new thing..
one guesses jack keroauc set a precedent with the burrito paragraphs...
Cool to have a potrait of the poet's life, am wondering along with this things, and apologies if it's too much of a question, and would understand your discretion if this is a mute topic, but wondering what the writer's dayjob, income and past vocational experiences might be?
So one spends more on eating fish, than the fish would spend just swimming around and dining on kelp?
Wait somebody might misunderstand..
i'm other than a grinch..
Was just being frivolous with the comments, and meant other than to be intrusive on your thoughts an experience, but looking back over it, it seems like it might be in bad form, especially since you haven't ever commenting about anything on the thread's of others, in regards to judgements on their lifestyle's.
Again, my intent was to compliment as opposed to criticise, but please feel free to edit the anonymous statement's here.
I hope understanding that anyonymous the person is cool, though.
In comparision to the, even 40 thou a year bracket...the culinary deligts like the posts show relatively low indulgence...
(then again that bracket also donates a lot of money, whereas artists sort of live month to month..even if they eat out..
then again, if artists had money to donate? and comparing to a supermarket budget these days..eating out is sometimes just about the same expense...if the diet is balanced with the greens..)
and probably thousands and thousands of other folks have eaten at those restaurants..
if one compares that to another bracket?
that's a difficult argument to make though..
and if you tip the waitress..often that's giving that person, that doesn't have much money to live on..a little bit for the weekend at least..
either way...instantly jumping on the financial dynamic..esp. when the spending seems modest..
and the blogs are sparsely and tastefully written...and you'd seem to be a nice and kind person..
seems a little bit awful my part..
though my intent would differ from that reading..
i just wanted to step on to apologize again..and also qualify the intent..
please feel free to edit these statements..
but i hope you can find a place in your heart to forgive anyonymous..
i was just enthusiatic...
Oh man, John, isn't harrassing me enough???
happy new year.
