I went to the Devil, I mean, dentist today. My god, I'm sore. Apparently, instead of brushing side-to-side, I should consider brushing up-and-down and in circles. And: I'm a grinder and all my teeth are wearing down--quite a lot of wear for a 28 year old, I'm told. And maybe I should think about paying a bucketload of money for a night-time mouth guard. Oy.

Go to Wal-Mart get a $0.99 hockey mouth guard that you boil and then fit to your teeth. I'm a grinder too and it is worth a shot before you spend big bucks on making the dentist's mortgage payment. PS C of O rocks!

Dear C of O Rocks,

I thought about that, but I don't like the thought of sleeping with one of those bright yellow and rubbery mouth guards in my mouth. Every five seconds I'll have to suck the spit from accumulating in my cheek. I think I'll just try to stop grinding.

And: C of O does rock. C of O does not at all rock.

Yep. Mine from Wal-Mart was 20 bucks.

The first night it took a while to get used to, but now I can't sleep without it.

Shrinking teeth.

Grinding grinds teeth & Coke eats teeth. What's a mouth to do?

I'd wanted to do the same thing--buy an overthecounter mouthpiece--but my dentist strenuously objected. Why wouldn't she?

I heard that sleeping on your back prevents or at least reduces grinding. I tried it. Seems to work, but sleeping on my back for a whole night takes concentration & doesn't always work.

Call around at to dentists -- mine was $50 two years ago. Also, eating hard things like pretzels, cereal, carrots in the evening exacerbates this. Also, it's a neck muscle thing. Also, if you can get a softer pillow and like they said, lie on your back, you should feel a lot better.
